The Family Literacy Program is comprised of two libraries/community centers for all residents of Kuhio Park and Mayor Wright Homes. In addition to checking out books (many of which have been donated), patrons can participate in weekly story hour, literacy activities, and receive help with homework. We also provide access to computers and high quality children's e-books at our on-site Technology Rooms and through our subscription to TumbleBooks. Community volunteer groups offer Saturday story hour events, too.

Volunteers can perform a variety of tasks such as leading story hours, reading with a child, helping with homework, or playing literacy skill-building games. Volunteers who prefer to help behind-the-scenes are also needed to complete tasks such as book cataloging, shelving and organizing the collection, and preparing activities.
